If there is reasonable concern, protect first.

These minimum measures apply to organizers, staff, referees, table officials, authorized photographers, volunteers, providers, and anyone acting in an official Festival role.

Immediate action

  1. Protect

Move the child away from danger, keep them safe and accompanied, and activate medical or emergency help when needed. Do not wait for absolute certainty.

  2. Listen

Stay calm. Let them speak in their own words. Ask only what is necessary to identify immediate risk.

  3. Do not investigate

Do not interrogate, suggest answers, request unnecessary detail, make them repeat the account, confront anyone, arrange face-to-face meetings, promise secrecy, or decide who is telling the truth.

  4. Report and refer

Notify the Festival Safeguarding Lead. If there is immediate danger or a possible rights violation and the lead cannot be reached promptly, contact emergency services or the competent authority directly.

  5. Record facts only

Separate what you observed, what someone told you, and the action taken. Do not record opinions, diagnoses, rumors, or unverified allegations as confirmed facts.

  6. Protect the information

Share only with people who need the information to protect, respond, or meet a legal obligation. Never post or discuss a case in general messaging groups or social media.

Everyday safeguards

Get help

Before the Festival, the organizers will designate a Safeguarding Lead and alternate and communicate the operational contact route to staff and Team Representatives.

Immediate danger

Contact local emergency services or the competent authority without delay. Do not postpone urgent protection while trying to complete an internal report.
